baon idea 101

lately i have been really conscious of what goes inside my body (calorie counting that is) for the reason that i badly badly need to shed off some weight. i may still be in the normal range for my BMI but i feel that losing weight would give me more confidence and will make wakeboarding easier for me. teheeee!

i read somewhere that losing weight is really 80% diet and 20% exercise. consciousness is the key. i know it may sound paranoid to some but yes, i have established the habit of reading labels when i am in the supermarket or checking google the possible calories i take every single time i eat.

during weekdays, my diet consists mostly of crackers, banana, tuna, pork and beans, avocado, cheese, and more crackers. so today, i am sharing to you an easy variation of the tuna with egg. this is really easy even grade schoolers can make it (:

i am really picky when it comes to tuna so i recommend century tuna

just use the vegetable oil inside the can (p.s. be careful though, there is water content so there might be oil splashes)

sautee onion in low fire to caramelize

add a tsp of black pepper and a pinch of salt

jp and i prefer it dry so i just have to wait for the oil and water to soak before getting it out of the pan

there you go busy folks,  it is really easy to do and easy to pack as well for your baon. i always pair this with crackers and banana.

(1 can lasts for 2 meals because i pair it with fruits and crackers)

Stay Healthy! xx

day 2: favorite quote/quotes

hi guys! so here we go to day 2! (yay that rhymed! haaha) today i will be sharing 2 of the quotes i live by. these are the quotes that would uplift me and get me through a hard day.

this quote comes from a song which i always get to hear when i was a kid. the song starts with a message prompting us not to feel discourage and not to let those days get the better of us. it talks about Jesus being a constant friend so we just have to be happy and free because just as he watches over a sparrow, for sure he watches and takes care of me. and that works the same lot for you too.

so what's the significance of the sparrow being in comparison to human beings in this song? well, i learned that sparrows come from a family of small birds. some of their species or genus (or whatever you call their subclass) had already been announced distinct. these little birds are wild and mostly feed on seeds and just virtually anything in small quantities.
*thanks wikipedia for the help**

having said that, the song writer wants to point out that even insignificant little creatures such as the sparrows are being watched over and taken care of, how much more an important human being like you, me, and the rest of humanity. it is such an inspiration to hear and read about this quote especially when you are feeling unimportant and insignificant. or you may be facing a life crisis and you think that no one is helping you see a way out. this is really a message of hope to those in despair. so if you have time and or you know someone who needs some uplifting of the soul you can share this.

we are all a work in progress and if there is one thing that i have to double time my efforts with, it is my patience. yes i am very impatient. i get easily pissed when jp does not pick me up on time. i get angry when my food at the restaurant comes in a little too late. i blabber when a friend shows up 30 minutes past the said meeting time (in all fairness to me, i always show up on time haahaha). i get hot-headed when someone is a slow learner. and, this is the worst, i always question God if i requested for something and he is not quick to response. i know, i am such a horrible daughter.

a few months back i asked God of his plans for me. you see, i felt like the path i am heading goes nowhere. so, i am a registered nurse and i quit my office job to be able to volunteer at a hospital. apparently, after a few months, i feel like an idiot going back and forth the hospital without pay. i feel guilty that i could not bring 'pasalubong' when i go home. i could not even pay for my own meals or buy that forever21 dress i've been longing to have. i come to doubt whether this change in my career was actually right. so i asked God if what i am doing will account to anything in the future.

i was expecting a yes or a no answer but to my annoyance, God was really silent. and then on that morning when i opened my we heart it application in my phone, i saw that quote: two things define you, your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything. clearly God is still trying to help me develop my patience and hopefully when i will be able to see through this, then i will be ready to develop my attitude.

i know you guys also got quotes as your inspiration or happy thoughts so share them with me and the rest of the world so you can brighten someone else's day! Xx

the 31-day blog challenge

while trying to think of what to share to you guys. i came across this photo from tumblr and decided to join in the fun. i always have this bad habit of postponing things which i can just do now, so i hope that this challenge will help me become a better version of myself.

this is watermarked so due credit has already been cited (:

so let's go ahead and start with day 1, shall we? i am not really fond of #selfie so it took me a while to choose what photo to share. i sorted that the photo i will share best desribes me. here we go, no judging!

taken at shangri-la a summer ago (2012)
i love summers!

Fact #1
I AM A CRY-BABY! normally, at first glance people would see me as strong, manipulative, happy-go-lucky, and a lil strict but spare me your judgment because i am a confessed cry-baby. yes! even a needle prick can make me cry (which by the way is ironic cos i am a nurse) or sappy chick flicks. i remembered being teased by my sibs as 'kapayason' whenever we quarrel cos i am always the first one to cry!

Fact #2
I CAN COOK! yeyy. i am officially announcing that i can do tricks in the kitchen. haaha! so what's the big deal? well, i grew up very boyish and whenever mama and papa ask me to do chores like cooking i would easily find excuses not to do it. so what happened? well, life happened! tadahh and i just learn to love the smell of food and the satisfaction you get after making one yummy meal ^_^

Fact #3
COLD IS MY KRYPTONITE. i easily get sick during the cold season. boooo! and i usually get cramps when the temperature gets too cold. so whenever i am on the same room with my boyfriend (who gets sick when it's hot) i gotta have to wear socks or have my own blanket. my brain also slows down causing reflexes to have their downtime. haaha yeah, i'm just weird like that.

Fact #4
MY FAVORITE FRUIT IS BANANA. for a while i thought i was a minion but this just proves that i am a real pinay. there is no other fruit that i will exchange for banana. not even those fancy ones like grapes or kiwi or apple. haaha. i eat bananas raw, cooked, or sweetened.

Fact #5
I WANT TO CHANGE MY HAIR. if there is one thing i want to change in my body, it's my hair. i really have bad, unhealthy hair with very fine grains and i hate it. i would've wanted strong, healthy, wavy and naturally blonde locks but hey i'm pinay so achieving that might need a month's salary plus the maintenance thereafter. but, who knows, i might be able to have that provision in the future *dreamy eyes**

so there you go guys, that's day 1 of the 31-day challenge! let me know if you also want to do this challenge by sending me links of your work! happy day! Xx

thanks salonpas!

a few days back i was more than ecstatic to share about my recent wakeboarding experience but i failed to mention the pain i have to endure after. yes, you heard it right, P A I N! wakeboarding was not just all about enjoyment and that adrenaline rush you feel. it is all about pain. pain because you forget to stretch before jumping in. pain because it's your first time. pain because you had too much of it.

well that being said, i have to say that i'm pretty much guilty of all those three. so the pain i have to endure. j

just before we ended our wakeboarding session, divine came up to me and asked, 'is this your first time?' 'yeah' 'you gotta watch out for muscle aches and body fatigues. the first time i did it, i could not raise my hands way past my shoulders'

true to her word, i was feeling downright sick of the body pain and i even had a hard time holding my phone. i am not exaggerating when i say that the pain i was feeling is close to being electrified (and yes i know how it feels cos i had been electrified about 2x when i was a kid)

good thing i have a caring and patient boyfriend who bought me a box of these amazing, miracle patches!

from not being able to raise my hands to being able to perform ADLs, i must say
 SALONPAS IS MY NEW BESTFRIEND

P.S: today i feel a whole lot better and i'm ready to jump into that craaaazy board again! Xx

gotta love wakeboarding!

lately, i have been a lazy bum. i quit working out. i stopped playing sports thus, gaining unwanted weight! i am not depressed or anything. i just think that there is no inspiration to be fit anymore. haaha i know that was such a bad excuse but i could not really think what started all these crazy binge-ing. it is such huge pain to lose those calories.

a few days back, me and my friends went to the newly-renovated papa kits in liloan, cebu to try out fishing but we were surprised beyond imagination that the whole place was revamped and made into some kind of adventure place. there was zipline and monkey bridge and wall climbing and other fun stuff aside from the fishing experience. but what really got me excited was their wakeboarding.

so what is wakeboarding? according to wiki:

on a personal note, i should say that it is a sport which needs balance, body core, upper body strength (esp the biceps and triceps) and of course determination to stand up on the board and just get it on!

if you are living in cebu city, cebu wake park (which is inside papa kits) is the nearest place you can actually try and learn the sport. it is just about 20 mins ride if you pass by the newly developed road going to liloan. i'm not really good at directions so i will just gice you the map going there. i advise you to take this route for lesser hassle and lesser traffic too.

you know you are in the right direction when you pass by this beautiful bridge

last sunday afternoon, we finally decided to go out and  learn it. unfortunately, a lot of people were already lining up up to the last hour of operations so we were not able to hop on. the manager told us to call them first for reservation to be able to get a sure spot.
yesterday was truly our time cos there were only 5 of us playing. me, jp, slater young, divine, and a college dude whose name i forgot (i know have bad social ethics)

so here are the pictures we got. not too many though cos we were really enjoying the game the whole time, we lose the interest to take some really nice snaps.
i have to say that the crew and operators at cebu wake park are the best! they really are patient and
great coaches!

for beginners, this is the kind of board to use
wherein the shoes are just velcro strap-ons. it is easier
to remove when you fall from the board

wakeboarding is a little hard especially that you need balance and strength but it is really worth the try. after about 30 mins i was able to ride the board without falling off the water! YEYY! jp took a video of it so enjoy! P.S. if you are really into water sports its good to invest in go pro so the vid and photos are awesome!

there you go! i hope you guys will also try it out and don't forget to like: https://www.facebook.com/cebuwake

and just to loop you with what i said in the introduction, wakeboarding is a fun way to workout. it gives you adrenaline rush and makes you forget that you're actually burning those fats in a fun fun way. let me know how it goes for you!

vintage photo

because i miss our morning's after work, i will share a photo of a random morning jp and i share a year ago when we still work at the same office (:

we both look sleepy since our work requires us to stay up all night (:

this local resto is located at j center in mandaue. it's cozy and vintage and the food is good!

coke sharing!

the first time i get to see this video commercial made me really feel fuzzy inside. awwww this is just too cute. a coca-cola can you twist and tadaaaahh, 2 lil cans for you and your friend/special someone :D but since we are a 3rd world country, coca-cola philippines does not have it :( bummer! but anyhow, just enjoy the video and ask your friends from singapore (i think the nearest country to ours which has it) to buy you one just for the heck of it! happy day! mwah!

6.6.13

it's not just a bee, it's burt's bees!

ever since i could remember, i always have dry and chapped lips. whether the weather is cold or whether the weather is hot, my lips look cracked and totally disgusting. it's partly my fault because i don't hydrate myself that my much. i can only average 2-3 glasses a day or 5 glasses max! i think my thirst center in the brain is a little defective cos it wouldn't tell me if i am thirsty and i needed to gulp down some liquid. (excuses, right?)

anyway, back to my cracked lips. in college when i started to hangout with friends and i started dating, i felt insecure when those cracks would breakout since it's such a turn off. so major part of my "necessities budget" would really go to buying lip balms or petroleum jelly or lip glosses to hide those cracks temporarily. you might say that i am exaggerating but trust me, i am not! i would say major because those lippies are small and usually if not's borrowed forever by a friend i am pretty sure i would lost it in a few days. (yeah, something is really wrong with me haaha)

i have not really found the perfect lip balm to cure my chapped lips not until 3 weeks ago when i tried burt's bee. i can go on ranting about how amazing this little thing is but it sure counts most when you try it for yourself. basically what i do is put it in my purse (i am really careful this time since it's not a joke throwing around a fortune) and treat my lips every now and then. my lips really turned out great. it's soft and yes wait for it.....KISSABLE (:

so just in case you're facing the same dilemma, you can always invest in this lil thing and have those lips glow back to it's original softness :D

lemme know what you think! Xx

brekkie, anyone?

i love breakfast food is an understatement! (i mean who doesn't?)

although it's true that not most people can wake up early and have breakfast on it's appropriate time. it is however a fact that most people love (again, an understatement) pancakes, silogs (tapsilog, spamsilog, chorisilog, danggitsilog), coffee, milk, hot chocolate, bagels, and waffles, and of course the sauces and dips and those liquid-y thing that comes along with it (peanut butter, cookie butter, maple syrup, caramel, chocolate, etc)! haaha sorry, but i couldn't find the right words in describing my love for breakfast (i mean food and yeah i should stop talking in parenthesis!)

and so because of my enthusiasm for brekkie i want to share to you my newest find in the best breakfast place where you can just forget about the world and not think about anything else but the food laid in front of you. you will even forget instagram (trust me..or not!) haaha!

DAViD'S

sunday after vday, jp and me went for a drive around it park to have a little breather from a cray work week and a crazier work week ahead and we got hungry so we looked for the nearest breakfast place around. david's is relatively new in IT Park but they said there is actually an old david's place in some part in the city (which i obviously wasn't aware of). and this was a perfect timing because we have been wanting to try out their steak for a while now. however, when we got there, the waiter (who was very kind by the way) suggested that we get the salpicao because it was their best seller. so salpicao i got but since jp was really wanting to try the steak, he got himself one. their meals come with unlimited steak rice and IT WAS THE BOMB! i mean the steak rice was the bomb! haaha don't trust my take on this too much though because i am just really a rice person (is there even a term like that?) and by the way, the salpicao i ordered did not disappoint. jp ended up getting more from my plate ((:

EARLY BiRD BREAKFAST CLUB

this place is located in bonifacio high street and man we walked around for a while just to find it. ok, so when jp booked tix for manila just for a day, i started researching for the best places where we can eat and i came across this place in my favorite blogger's page, pattylaurel.com
she said this was newly-opened and being the crazy follower that i was, i told jp that we are not coming back to cebu unless we try this place out. the initial plan was to go there directly from the airport so it would really be a "real breakfast" feel for us but we were really surprised to find out that the place was packed and they couldn't accommodate us for the next hour or two. so we headed to italianni's instead but vowed to go back for dinner. (yes i was that desperate)

i should say that it was really a good decision to come back because the ambience, the food, and every little detail about the place was really what i expected it to be. although the place was really pricey (around 275php-350php/serving) it was a treat really to be there!

their location is near fitness first in boni high. it is to it's right when you face the fitness first bldg.

this was prolly the best tasting tapa i ever had. it was soft and not too dry and was just perfect!
the chorizo was equally tasty. i actually like it there because their chorizo was served with vinegar which i couldn't find here in cebu.
of course, who else was i with? food is such a common denominator with me and jp!
our other companion is carl, i have know him since high school and he was so kind to drive us around manila
we chose to sit at the 2nd level to get a good view of people coming in
these kids also had their breakfast at past 5:30pm already!

WORD!

CAFE SARREE

this is a little breakfast nook in escario (cebu city) which jp found accidentally. just right at the back of this cute place is nice day carwash which jp frequents every weekend. so when this place opened he asked me out on a date and ever since, we look forward to sunday morning carwash cos it means breakfast at saree! yeyy! (happy dance) the place is a resemblance of early breakfast place in boni high but it is way cheaper and also very accessible. if you happen to follow my instagram, you will see posts of the food we order (yeah, i'm just really like that, i post food photos haaha).

just this morning, i took sherah, my pretty friend from bacolod, to a breakfast date in this beautiful cafe so we can catch up. we haven't seen each other for quite a while now so instead of going to a night out (which we used to do a while back), i decided to share stories with her on a breakfast. yes, i'm a little tired of going out at night because i'm getting old and boring (what other excuse can i say?) haaha but kidding aside, i really think that breakfast dates are way better cos the day is just starting and a lot of positivity is present so it makes the catching up more fun and saner too! haaha

they say to eat like a king during breakfast, but who cares? when it's breakfast food, i always eat like a king even if it's served in the middle of the night.

what about you? what's your favorite breakfast place?
